My blog is sad and feels neglected, but I won’t apologise for that.

After all I don’t get paid to blog, it’s a value added, a plus, a personal activity. I do sometimes think that perhaps I should be blogging more but then I just get a reality check & I get over it.

I have realised over the years that my employer doesn’t really care if I blog or not. Sure, they like me to be well informed & up to date with my knowledge, (which I do by reading other people’s blogs) but the reality is that they need me to fulfil my duties to them and make a difference to our community.

Yes I know that sounds selfish, but I do share back my work when I can (as evidenced in this blog), but I’m just not willing to sacrifice that time I can be using to make a difference to colleagues & students lives in my own institution.

So there you have it, an excuse for why my blog is not bulging at the seams, but you know what? I’m actually pretty chilled about that, after all I’ve just been reading an email from a colleague thanking me for making a massive positive difference to the embedding of digital literacy into their curriculum.
